Peru
Peru is a country of origin for coffee with enormous potential, but until now it has hardly been on the map for specialty coffees. We would like to change that: With the Norcafé cooperative, we focus on long-term partnerships, quality programs and full traceability of Peruvian coffee. One of these wonderful projects is "Café Mujer" from the Norcafé cooperative.
Women in coffee cultivation
As producers, women in Peru unfortunately still do not appear that often. Structurally, they are still at a great disadvantage. Depending on the country of origin, there are only two to a maximum of 30% female landowners. Yet women often contribute the greater share of labor to coffee production. We are therefore all the more pleased to present LA PERLA, a coffee that is produced exclusively by female farm owners.

Preparation
With the simplest of equipment, the women manage to produce an impressively clear and expressive coffee. What is special about LA PERLA production is that only fully ripe cherries are used, which rest overnight for 15 hours after harvesting. In the morning, the cherries are peeled (sculpt) and the pulp remaining on the parchment coffee is fermented for 24 hours. The coffee then dries on raised beds for up to four weeks. This so-called "washed process" allows the accents of the variety and the terroir to fully come to the fore.
Sustainably packaged
Our focus is on sustainability. That's why it's just as important to us that our products are packaged sustainably. We use boxes made of recycled material, which have no unnecessary outer packaging and are only printed on the outside with food law compliant inks. This way we all keep our carbon footprint low and do good for the environment.
